The West Euston Time Bank

hOur cafe

The time bank cafe is every Friday from 12.30pm - 2pm at the Crypt Centre.

It is soon to move to the Hpod adjacent to the Doctor's surgery at Cumberland Market, West Euston.

The time bank cafe works on the same principles as a normal cafe only those who work there don't get paid but rather earn time credits. Likewise those who eat there don't have to pay but rather spend their credits.* 

The time bank cafe also run themed events and provided the food for our International Women's day, Third Age Project St Patrick's Day.

Stir Fryday in September 2005 which was aimed at introducing members to the stir fry method of cooking.  The emphasis was to demonstrate that vegetables can be quick, easy and fun to cook but that eating healthily could also be tasty and affordable. Fruity Friday on 13^TH May 2005 also promoted the need to regularly east fresh fruit as part of a balanced diet. 

Hygiene rules are of course strictly followed but it is also imperative that people have fun in their cafe role!

We welcome anyone who wants to partake in the running of the cafe. This can be from choosing the cuisine, making the menus, taking registration/credits/money/, cooking, serving, washing the dishes. Or it could simply be making a cake or jam for others to try.

hOur cafe is essentially a happy meeting point for time bank members to informally chat and catch up with what is happening both in Time Bank and in West Euston. 

We also encourage our time bank members who help in the cafe to attend community nutrition courses. Patsy attended a community food workers course during the year to learn about nutrition and the skills needed to show others within the community.
